Thomas Beelen

Thomas is a PhD candidate at the Human Media Interaction group at University of Twente since January 2020. He obtained his double masters degree in Human Computer Interaction & Design from KTH Royal Institute for Technology in Stockholm as well as University of Twente. The focus of his PhD is on the conversational interaction between child and robot, where different conversational paradigms will be compared.

Ella Velner

Ella started her PhD at Human Media Interaction in October 2019. She holds a MSc in Information Systems from the University of Amsterdam in 2019. Prior to that, she obtained a BA in Communication and Information Sciences from the VU Amsterdam. During these studies, she got interested in the intersection of human communication and technology research, with a special interest in vocal communication (both linguistics and paralinguistics). Her PhD focuses on responsible child-robot interaction, with a special interest in voice (of the robot as well as the child) and trust.
When she's not working, she can often be found in the kitchen or on the couch. She loves to cook fancy dinners and bake cakes. She also likes reading, going to the movies, watching my cats, snorkling, and walking alongside the IJssel, a river near my house.

More information can be found on her website ellavelner.nl.
